I have been thinking a lot about what I need to keep my equilibrium. One of those things is long walks. Given the choice I will always walk. When I’m walking my brain unscrambles itself and I can see a plan, or next step forward or connection that I couldn’t see before. But there are also the people and other creatures I meet. The people on the same circuit at the same time. It’s not power walking, I’m sure some of you have seen me with my nose in a pile of moss inspecting the tiny landscape. Particularly on a morning like the one just passed, when each dew drop is frozen like a tiny crystal ball. I don’t think you need a crystal ball to see that there will likely be a lot more political instability next year. We’ll need the things that bring is equilibrium. And we’ll need each other, feathered, furred or otherwise.
