Hello again and welcome to those who are joining me here again and those who are here for the first time.

Some of you might remember this painting from the year before last. I hope the original is very happy in its new home. I happened across this photo of it, with a ray of late afternoon sun falling across the surface of the landscape as if it were part of the same world. I liked it so much I had a print made of it, including the ray of sun. Although we don’t have the snow on the ground, nature is conserving her energy. This Advent Calendar is permission for you (and I) to slow right down in whatever way you can. Even if it just means to slow down your walk, take a breath, talk less. Whatever is possible for you and if you like candles, now is the time.
