Watercolour and Ink on Paper. Sandymount. €130
Dear friends, apologies for the late hour. A day off school threw me off track. If you had asked me what materials I would use in my life when I was an art student I probably would have said ‘I don’t know but not Watercolour’. It came in through the back door through a recurring exploration of water. I started with inks and often use them together. They do their own thing and I try to let them. I can be slightly mesmerized by simple things, which sometimes makes me back away from an image too soon. It’s a fine line to walk with Watercolour.
This painting is connected, for me, with my aunt who passed away last year. She bred Red Setters and later other dogs and cats, she made stained glass and was more resilient than I think I’ll ever know. I will be writing more about her in the future I feel. She was incredibly supportive, even now from wherever she is. So I think my message for today is that subtle and invisible forces are supporting us and to let them 💚.
